ABOUT
McKenzie Lauren Jones is a singer, songwriter, cellist, and interdisciplinary artist whose work centers lineage, multiracial identity, and collective liberation through music and embodied storytelling. A lifelong musician, she is a founding member of two bands, Strange Heavy and Mama Look, creating original work that blends Americana, folk, soul, and rock with a strong emphasis on voice, narrative, and collaboration.
Her current project, Ancestors, is a genre-blending, immersive work under her own name that expands her practice into voice-centered performance, incorporating dance and storytelling.
Alongside her artistic work, she is a cooperative developer and cultural worker supporting artist-led and worker-owned initiatives. Her work bridges artistic practice and systems of solidarity, exploring how culture and community can be created and sustained through collective structures.
